NICL Assistant Eligibility Criteria 2026 

Candidates must satisfy the eligibility requirements prescribed by NICL before applying. Any discrepancy in the eligibility of candidates will lead to application rejection. The detailed eligibility criteria for the NICL Assistant Notification 2026 has been provided below. 

Nationality:

  • The applicant for applying for the exam can be:
  • A Citizen of India
  • The subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who permanently settled in India before January 1, 1962 
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zaire, or Zambia, intending to reside in India permanently.


Educational Qualification 

  • Candidates should possess a Graduate Degree in any discipline from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of India. 
  • Candidate should possess a valid certificate in proof of passing the qualifying examination as on 01.07.2026.  

Age Limit (As on 01/07/2026) 

  • Minimum Age: 21 years 
  • Maximum Age: 30 years 
  • Candidates born not earlier than 02.07.1996 and not later than 01.07.2005 (both days inclusive)

How to fill out the NICL Assistant Form?

Step 1: Visit the official National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) website at https://nationalinsurance.nic.co.in. 

Step 2: On the homepage, click on the "Recruitment" tab to open the latest recruitment page. 

Step 3: Find the "Recruitment of Assistants (Class III) 2026" notification, download and read it carefully, then click on the "Apply Online" link provided. 

Step 4: Click on "New Registration" and register by entering your basic details to generate a Registration Number and Password. 

Step 5: Log in using your registration credentials and fill in your personal, educational, communication, and other required details. 

Step 6: Upload your recent passport-size photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and handwritten declaration in the prescribed format. 

Step 7: Preview the application form carefully and verify all the entered details before final submission. 

Step 8: Pay the application fee through the available online payment modes such as Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, UPI, or other accepted methods. 

Step 9: Submit the application form and download or print the application form and e-receipt for future reference. 

NICL Assistant Recruitment 2026 Selection Process 

All the candidates who want to apply for the National Insurance Company Limited Assistant Recruitment 2026 have to undergo 3 stages of the selection process as part of the NICL Assistant  Recruitment. The details of the same are discussed here. 

1. Preliminary Examination (Phase I)

The Preliminary Exam will be conducted in online mode and will consist of Objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions carrying a total of 100 marks. The exam includes three sections—English Language, Reasoning Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude. Candidates will have 60 minutes to complete the examination, with separate sectional timings of 20 minutes for each test. Candidates shortlisted in the Preliminary Examination will be eligible to appear for the Main Examination.

2. Main Examination (Phase II) 

The Main Exam will be conducted in online mode and will consist of Objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions carrying a total of 200 marks. The exam comprises five sections—Reasoning, English Language, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, and Computer Knowledge. Candidates will have 120 minutes to complete the examination, with separate sectional timings for each section. Candidates who qualify the Main Examination will be called for the Regional Language Test, which is qualifying in nature. 

3. Regional Language Test (RLT) 

Candidates who qualify in the Mains Exam will be called for the Regional Language Test (RLT), which is qualifying in nature and carries no marks. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in the regional language of the State/UT they have applied for. 

Final selection 

The NICL Assistant final selection will be based on Main Examination marks, subject to qualifying the RLT, successful document verification, and medical fitness. 

NICL Assistant Prelims Exam Pattern 2026 

The NICL Assistant Preliminary Examination will be conducted in online mode and consists of 100 objective-type questions carrying 100 marks. The exam is divided into three sections, each with a separate time limit of 20 minutes, making the total duration 60 minutes. Candidates must secure the minimum qualifying marks to be shortlisted for the Main Examination.

  • Total Time Duration: 60 minutes 
  • Negative Marking: 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

  • Quantitative Aptitude: 35 Questions - 35 Marks (Medium: English & Hindi, Duration: 20 Minutes) 


Note: Candidates who qualify the Preliminary Examination by securing the required cut-off marks will be shortlisted for the Main Examination. 

NICL Assistant Main Exam Pattern 2026 

The NICL Assistant Main Examination will be conducted in online mode and consists of 200 objective-type questions carrying 200 marks. The exam is divided into five sections with separate sectional timings, making the total duration 120 minutes. Candidates must obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the Main Examination to be shortlisted for the Regional Language Test (RLT). 

Exam Pattern:

  • Total No. of Questions: 200 
  • Total Marks: 200
  • Total Time Duration: 120 Minutes

NICL Assistant Salary 2026 

The initial gross monthly salary of a NICL Assistant is approximately ₹53,000 in metro cities, including applicable allowances. The basic pay scale is ₹36,290-2115(1)-38,405-2310(2)-43,025-2600(5)-56,025-3005(2)-62,035-3660(3)-73,015-3800(2)-80,615-4050(5)-1,00,865. In addition to the salary, employees are entitled to benefits such as Domiciliary Medical Benefits, Group Mediclaim, Leave Travel Subsidy (LTS), and other staff welfare schemes as per NICL rules.
